Tri Delta the journey of a lifetime
Philanthropy No one stands as tall as the one who kneels to help a child

Tri Delta’s chosen philanthropy is Children’s Cancer Charities.

Pancake breakfast Tri Delta’s philanthropy efforts go back to the times of our founding. Different causes had been supported through the years. In 1970, a growing interest was expressed in a national philanthropy that would combine fundraising and volunteer work and unite the efforts of all Tri Deltas. A study of our members interests revealed a wide spread interest in children’s oncology. This led Tri Delta to adopt Children's Cancer Charities as the focus for our philanthropic efforts. In conjunction with this effort, Tri Delta enjoys a partnership of the heart with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Tri Delta’s philanthropy allows chapters and members to choose to support a local project like a children’s hospital or a cancer camp and to support the efforts of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Whatever the choice, Tri Deltas are joining together to offer financial and volunteer contributions to the research and treatment of children with cancer. Since 1974 when a National Philanthropy effort was started over $14 million dollars has been raised to support research in children’s cancer. Together Tri Delta is making a difference.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Since 1999, Tri Delta has raised more than $2.8 million nationally for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

St. Jude Children Research Hospital In September 2002, Tri Delta’s Executive Board agreed to a four-year one million dollar commitment to St. Jude’s. Through the work of our members, this commitment was met in only two and a half years and was completed in May 2005. Our efforts funded the Patient Teen Room, a safe haven for teen-aged patients looking to get a few minutes away from parents and hospital staff. The room includes an activity area, computer center, entertainment room and a music area.

Tri Delta has now agreed to name the Patient Care Floor in the Hospital and has committed to raising $7.5 million over a period of 5 to 7 years. In 2005 - 2006 we raised over $1 million dollars towards this commitment.

Other Charities
The list of other charities supported by local Tri Delta Alumnae and Collegiate groups is expansive and may be viewed at our National Web Site at www.tridelta.org .

Syracuse
Pancake Breakfast Omicron Chapter of Tri Delta sponsors several fund raising events during the year. Our goal is to raise $5,000 per year to contribute to our National Philanthropy. If each of our 133 collegiate chapters raised this amount, combined we would contribute $665,000 annually to the search for a cure for Children’s Cancer.

Our first fund raiser of the year was a Pancake Breakfast held on Homecoming weekend. Our net amount raised was over $2,200 and was contributed in its entirety to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

We have several small fund raisers through out the rest of the semester. Our large fund raiser in the Spring is called "Frats at Bat" and is a competition between the fraternities on campus.

Sisters We also participate in and contribute to the various philanthropic efforts of the other fraternities and sororities on the SU campus and a portion of our dues is dedicated to these efforts.

Through the combined efforts of our members we are certain that we will continue to achieve our goal and, following the lead of our National organization, we will continue to set higher goals for future years.
